Cabinet Installation in Louisville, KY
The people who build your cabinets are the people who fit them. No subcontracted crews, no handoff, no one blaming anyone else if something does not line up.
What Cabinet Installation Involves
Installation starts long before anything is fitted. Abe measures your room himself, checking for the things that catch people out: walls that are not square, floors that slope, windows and radiators sitting where a run of units wants to go. Those measurements are what the cabinets get built to, which is why they fit tight to the wall instead of needing filler strips to hide gaps.
On installation day the cabinets arrive finished. Boxes are levelled and secured to the studs, doors and drawers are hung and adjusted, and trim, crown molding and toe kicks are cut and fitted on site so they follow the actual line of your room. Appliance openings are checked against the appliances themselves rather than the spec sheet.
A typical kitchen is installed in a few days. We will give you a realistic schedule when we quote, and tell you what needs to happen before we arrive: whether the old kitchen needs to be out, and where plumbing or electrical work has to be done before the units go in.
Two things to have ready before installation day: the old cabinets removed (we can do this for $400 if you would rather not), and doorways checked to make sure they are wide enough for the cabinets to come through. We will confirm both when we schedule.
Cabinets are typically ready 6 to 8 weeks after your order is finalized, and we call to schedule installation once they are complete. If you have bought countertops from us, we template them after the cabinets are set. Full detail is on our order process page.
Why We Install What We Build
Most cabinet companies hand installation to a subcontracted crew who did not build the cabinets and will not see them again. When something does not fit, the maker blames the fitter and the fitter blames the maker, and the homeowner is stuck in the middle.
Abe Knepp measures, builds and installs. If a cabinet needs adjusting on the day, the person adjusting it is the person who made it and knows how it goes together. Nothing is lost between the drawing and the finished kitchen.
It also means the quote you are given is the whole job. Installation is not a separate line item added by a third party after you have committed.
What We Install
We build and install kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities and cabinetry, custom closets, pantries and built-in storage, all in solid hardwood. If it is built-in cabinetry, we make it and we fit it.
Installation covers metro Louisville and Jefferson County, southern Indiana including New Albany, Jeffersonville and Clarksville, and further afield in Owensboro, Bowling Green, Evansville and Sarasota, Florida. Travel is usually straightforward to arrange, so ask if you are outside the immediate area.
Estimates are free and carry no obligation. We will come out, measure properly, talk through wood, door styles and finishes, and give you a written price. Installation is priced separately from the cabinets, so you can see exactly what each part costs.
If you would rather fit them yourself, or have your own contractor do it, that is perfectly acceptable and we will price the cabinets alone.
